Established in 1987, our client has grown to become a respected provider of Storage Resource Analysis, Storage and Computer Utility (Consumption Metering) Billing and IT Business Service Assurance Solutions, with a proven track record in implementing enterprise storage utility solutions.  

GH Resourcing have been appointed to recruit a Storage Architect based in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.

Storage Architects are responsible for researching, designing and architecting heterogeneous software solutions for managing Storage Area Networks. The Storage Architect is expected to take ownership of technical solutions from conception through to completion, working closely with other team-members to ensure successful delivery.

The successful Storage Architect must have a Degree or equivalent qualification in IT or related discipline or demonstraton of equivalent experience.  Desirable is Membership of SNIA.   Storage Architects must have the following experience:-

At least 10 years experience of working in the storage field, of which at least 3 years working with storage management products.
Must have worked with at least two of the main storage vendors and have resolved complex and critical storage problems.
A solid range of technical skills including:


- Vendor management technologies from vendors such as: EMC, IBM, HP, HDS or NetApp.
- Storage Management at command line level.
- UNIX, Linux and MS Windows operating systems to scripting level.
- TCP/IP network technologies and topologies.
- Design and software development principles.
- Relational Database design.
- SQL scripting and administration (preferably including MySQL)
- Storage and backup platforms and technologies (SAN, NAS and DLM / ILM)
Experience should include evidence that demonstrates:
- A proven track record in software solution design
- A full understanding of the business drivers and context which surround storage management solutions.
- Strong technical leadership and good interpersonal skills.
- The ability to communicate ideas and concepts effectively to both senior management and technical personnel.
- The ability to work effectively on multiple business-critical challenges simultaneously.
- The ability to work independently and maintain accountability to management.
- Flexibility and the ability to manage time well and adjust to changes in priorities.
- The ability to work and solve problems effectively as part of a team and in a leadership role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable
Virtualisation platforms including VMWare Infrastructure/ESX Server, Solaris 10 containers/zones or LPARS.
Knowledge of Tek-Tools, Onaro or other similar storage reporting products.
Knowledge of SNIA standards portfolio such as SMI-S.
Cisco switch or other vendor familiarity.
Protection solutions with Backup or Replication technologies.
Knowledge of Web 2.0 technologies.
Web-based technologies (LAMP).
